Chris Gardner was a single, homeless father in San Francisco. Struggles to pay rent and daycare on an entry-level salary. Chris and his 2-year-old son slept in parks, airports, motels, and during their darkest moments, they slept on the floor of a train station bathroom. Despite working long hours, Chris could barely afford an apartment. Still, he was ready to do whatever it took to provide for his son.
As Chris Gardner said: “I was homeless, but I wasn’t hopeless”. Everything changed after a chance encounter with a man in a red Ferrari. Intrigued, Chris asked the man what he did for a living. The man was Bob Bridges, one of San Francisco’s Top Stockbrokers. The two hit it off and soon Bob was helping Chris find work. After months of networking Chris finally scored an interview for a job at a brokerage firm. But after making it through the interview, he was instead offered a position as an intern. hungry for an opportunity, Chris jumped at the position, ready to learn. After work, Chris had to mow lawns and clean basements to support himself and his son. Both father and sin lined up at a soup kitchen and slept wherever they could for an entire year. They were even taken in by a women’s homeless shelter who took pity on them. Chris hard work at the firm eventually paid off when they offered him
a full-time job.
In 1987, Chris opened his own investment firm, Gardner Rich & Co, in his apartment. Because of his restless hard work, dedication and hard work Today, Chris Gardner is a multimillionaire.
